Everything is a little bit sweeter when cobbler is involved, but truly, everything is sweeter when you gather with friends from home.
As we were on our way to Portland, we took a detour and visited our fellow Mombasa family. Aaron and Dama welcomed us into their Washington home and we shared stories, burgers and cobbler. We also met new friends, Megan and her son Jamal, who were uniquely connected to other friends back in Kenya. It always surprises me how the world seems so much smaller through connections and mutual friends.
The visit was quick, but it was exactly what we needed. It fueled our soul to share a meal with friends from home. As the kiddos played and laughed together, we were able to have genuine conversation over a yummy bowl of cobbler.
I am thankful for this time on the road with my family and the sweet moments with many friends from all over the nation (and world!)
